Jonathan Simon will be lecturing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham speaking on the subject of "Life as an Artist."



Jonathan's painting "Candy Scale" is published as a finalist in the still life category of the 9th International 2012-2013 ARC Salon Catalogue competition, hosted by the Art Renewal Center (ARC).


Jonathan relocates his studio to Orlando, FL.

As one of it's product demonstrators, Jonathan showcases Gamblin's new line of FastMatte Alkyd Oil Colors, with a focus on still life painting.


Jonathan opens a new studio in Opelika, AL. It is a 1,200 square foot studio space featuring 13 foot ceilings with sky light and has just been renovated in the beautiful historic section of downtown Opelika. This space will serve as Jonathan's main studio for the next year as he concentrates on his next body of work. "The space is a perfect environment for producing work as well as being nice enough to put on shows of not only my work, but other internationally known artists. Even with the economy down, quality work is still in demand and I look forward to concentrating solely on art for the future."

Jonathan Simon will be the featured artist in "Present a Faculty" exhibition. Opening reception is on Friday, March 4 from 7-9pm at the Stephanie Ann Roper Gallery.


Jonathan Simon will be delivering a lecture entitled "Life as an Artist" at the Art Education Expo at Frostburg State University. This will be an in-depth look at working in the field of art.


Jonathan Simon will be teaching painting and illustration full-time at Frostburg State University for the 2010-2011 school year. "I am sad to leave such a talented class of students as NHIA; however, the opportunity to teach and join the Frostburg team is a great opportunity that I cannot pass up. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Visual Arts Department in Frostburg, MD."

"Artist Returns Home"

Jonathan Simon will be featured in the Opelika Auburn News May 4th, 2008.



Jonathan Simon will be teaching full time at New Hampshire Art Institute starting this fall. "I am honored to be involved with a school with such high caliber of both faculty and student. The Opelika Auburn News will be interviewing Jonathan at his Auburn studio April 24, which will be the second time Jonathan has been featured in The Opelika Auburn News.

Jonathan Simon will be giving a drawing demo on Mixed Media to the Illustration department at The New Hampshire Art Institute April 17th

Jonathan Simon will be teaching a portrait drawing class at Auburn University. This class will focus on traditional portrait drawing from live model and will run 4 weeks April 1st- 22nd

Jonathan Simon will be giving a lecture "Life as an artist" and figure drawing demo at Casper College's Art Department, Casper Wyoming March 24-27

"Waiting to Pee" which gained Simon a great deal of notoriety sold after the 2007 RAM Miami show for $30,000.00. "Pee", was the first painting in the series sold. "It was a bit sad to see the painting go, however, it is comforting to know it has become featured in a prominent collection and the the sale will generate more paintings in the continuation of the series."

Jonathan Simon will be involved in Art Basel Miami , The largest International Art  Show in America, the sister event of Art Basel in Switzerland. Art Basel has  been the most important annual art show worldwide for the past 37 years.

Jonathan Simon will be involved with the ATL ARThouse this year.  Sponsored by Atlanta Gallery Association, Atlanta Magazine, Rathman  Enterprises, UBS and more. The featured work will be Angela, represented by  Atlanta Fine Art Gallery, at a modest price of 50,000 dollars.

John Pence Gallery's "Water Street" show opens to great reviews. Being involved with this show was a great experience. The painting "Sushi" sold at the opening. I look forward to working with John Pence Gallery in the future.

John Pence Gallery, one of the premier galleries on the west coast with a San Francisco store front; has selected Jonathan Simon to be in the Water Street show. A show that will be show-casing some of the finest artistic talent in America. The show will focusing on the history of the great atelier. Taking a look back at the atelier in its prime, when located at the studio on Water Street in Dombo NY. This is a juried show with a maximum of four painting from those artists that are selected. Simon, has the honor of not only being selected, but having the maximum number of paintings chosen: Angela, Sushi, Shaken not Stirred, and Pitcher and Basin.

Jonathan Simon moves his studio from New York to Atlanta, Georgia. "I have leased a 1,500 sq. foot studio loft near downtown Atlanta. A beautiful space with 16 foot ceilings and great light. I look forward to strengthening ties with Atlanta art collectors, galleries and inspiring young artists."

Jonathan Simon will be teaching two workshops this summer at the Rankin Art Center in Columbus, Georgia.
Each of the workshops will run 3 days. The first runs from August 19-21 and the second from August 26-28.
Both workshops will start at 9:00 AM and end at 4:00 PM.

The workshops will emphasize Figure Drawing from Life. They will cover the block-in method of drawing, structural drawing, Anatomy for artists, and Proportions of the Human body. We will also explore several drawing techniques from the mehthods used by the early masters to more contemporary approaches, with emphasis on materials and methods. The first workshop will be geared toward the beginning artist, and the second for intermediate to advanced artists.
